The quiet serenity of Strathcona’s old-growth forests will do more for your well-being than a day at the spa. Snowshoeing at Mt. Washington transports you to a magical wonderland featuring 22 km of meandering trails with unexpected views.

Mount Washington is rated as one of North America’s top Nordic Centres. Perched on the edge of spectacular Strathcona Provincial Park, the Nordic Centre features Raven Lodge — a quintessential timber-framed ski lodge with full dining, retail and rental options. Explore the wilds of Strathcona Park as you meander through snow-covered trees surrounded by rugged, ice-capped mountains.

Trail passes, rentals and maps are available at Raven Lodge. Read on for guided tours, trail passes, and our signature Raven Lodge Fondue experience.

Winter Wonderland Snowshoe Tour

Wander beyond the marked trails with a guide on this 4-hour snowshoe adventure. The group travels to one of the lakes in Strathcona Park to enjoy a bagged lunch before heading back to Raven Lodge. The route is based on weather and group ability, so not all tours reach the lakes.

Includes: 4-hour guided tour, bagged lunch, full-day snowshoe pass and rentals. Offered daily at 10 am — pre-booking required.

Add an additional child to a family tour for $29. Your guide leads a 1.5-hour trek through our scenic snowshoe trail network on novice–intermediate terrain, including a full-day trail pass and rentals.

Raven Lodge Fondue

Work up an appetite snowshoeing through the breathtaking Strathcona Provincial Park before returning to Raven Lodge for a delicious gourmet fondue — or skip the snow and just enjoy the fondue dinner!

How to Prepare

What to Wear

Dress in warm, winter clothing: base layers, full snow gear or waterproof pants, a winter jacket and winter boots. Check the weather before you go!

Ages

All participants should be 6 years of age or older and able to manage a light-to-brisk pace on the snow. Your kids don’t need to be athletic or even outdoorsy to enjoy this activity!
