A full day at the Peak, built around everything fall does best — foraging, alpine wildlife, hands-on making, and good conversation with the people who know this landscape best. Oh, and plaid, obviously. Guided or self-directed, one activity or all of them: come see what the mountain’s got going on.

10:30 AM — Forest for Dinner Foraging Tour

Walk the forest with someone who reads it fluently. Forest for Dinner leads a guided tour through the surrounding woods, pointing out the seasonal plants, fungi, and edible finds most people walk right past. Part foraging lesson, part crash course in how alive this landscape really is.

Good to know: This is an active outdoor experience with uphill hiking and uneven terrain. The tour location is approximately 1–2 km from the lodge. Dress for the mountain, not the forecast — conditions shift fast up here.

Drop in, ask questions, stay a while. Our local partners are set up throughout the day:

• Forest for Dinner — Forest-to-dinner food and ingredients, and what’s actually growing in our backyard.
• Marmot Recovery Foundation — Meet the people protecting alpine marmots, with info and tours running all day.
• Alpine Bees & Honey with Certified Bee Master — Smith Lake Farm heads to the alpine! Learn about Beekeeping in the alpine, and the surprising effect elevation has on honey.

Self-Guided Foraging

Couldn’t make the Forest for Dinner tour? Follow our signs at your own pace and see what’s out there. Slow down, look closer than usual — the good stuff is easy to miss if you’re moving fast. As always, come prepared for mountain weather and stay aware of local wildlife.

Fall Foraging Crafts

Turn the day’s finds into something worth keeping. Leaf rubbings, sketching, and nature guides for identifying what you’ve picked up along the way.
