Discover Lessons
First Time Ski or Snowboarding

Welcome to the sport of Skiing and Snowboarding! Discovery Lessons are designed for all ages who have never skied or snowboarded before. This all-inclusive package includes: an Easy Acres lift ticket, all the rental equipment needed (ski/board, boots, poles, and helmet) and a 1 ¾ hour beginner lesson. Please note: Family Discovery Program for ages 7+ only

Group Lessons
Ski or Snowboard

Group lessons are a fun way to learn with others of similar abilities. Pros are trained to deal with splits in classes to keep the learning environment fun and active. All group sessions are 1.45-hours in length and a max. of 5 people per group. Please Note: Group Lessons are available for ability levels 1-4.

Private lessons are the best way to improve your skiing and snowboarding technique. Whether you are looking to take your abilities to the next level or you just want to fine-tune your turns, then consider taking a private lesson with one of our expert instructors. As a bonus you get lift-line priority, which means more time on the snow and less in the line-up. Ages 3+.

Instructor Courses

Instructional Courses
Learn to Teach

The Level 1 Certification provides you with the essentials needed to effectively
teach skiing and is also a prerequisite to employment on the mountain as a ski
instructor. Courses are three days in length and will focus on personal skiing
skill improvement along with teaching skill progression and safe teaching
practices. Must be 14 years or older to attend.

Alpine Gear Rentals
The Experience Centre

The Rossignol Experience Centre rents everything needed for a fun day on the slopes. Full packages including skis/snowboard, boots and poles, are available to rent. Daily as well as seasonal rentals are available.

Book your rentals in advance online, before you arrive at the resort. Add on your lift ticket with your rentals in the shopping cart! 

Tip: Save time by picking up your gear ahead of time, after 3pm for the next day at no additional cost. You can also add your lift ticket to your online rental booking!

The Rossignol Demo Centre

Ski the best selection of all-mountain, powder and carving skis and boards available from Rossignol from The Demo Centre. Located conveniently next to the Alpine Lodge and Eagle Chairlift, the Rossignol Demo Centre is also your stop for gear tuning, repair, and boot fitting services. 

Guests are welcome to come in and learn about the technology behind skis, snowboards and boots. A fleet of all-new Rossignol demo skis and snowboards is available to take out for a test ride. Professional boot fitting and repair services will help keep your gear riding smoothly all season.

The Demo Centre also caters to first-time skiers and snowboarders with a full range of beginner-specific gear designs to make learning to turn easy.

Our full-service Nordic rental shop is conveniently located in the Nordic Centre’s picturesque Raven Lodge. We feature a full line of Rossignol skate and classic skis and boots, MSR snowshoes as well as Rocky Mountain Blizzard bikes. Save time in the rental line and rent your gear online.

IMPORTANT Know Before You Go

Reservations are strongly encouraged. Please go online to mountwashington.ca to book or call (250) 338-1386 ext 384, to speak with a lesson specialist. Class sizes are limited to ensure fun and safety

Know before you go! Prepare to make the most of your time with us on the snow.
  • Allow a minimum of 1.25 hours between your arrival in the resort or departing your condo and the lesson start time (i.e. for a 9 am lesson, plan to arrive by 8 am).
  • If you already have equipment please proceed directly to the outdoor lesson meeting areas. If you require a pass please visit the Ticket Windows outside of the Alpine Lodge.
  • You are responsible for supervising your child (4+ years) prior to meeting the instructor on the snow 10 minutes prior to the scheduled lesson start time.
  • Please be aware that all lessons start promptly at the scheduled start time regardless of weather conditions or reduced lift operations. There are no refunds for missed lessons.
  • Consider checking in the night before! On nights that the resort is open for night skiing, you are welcome to visit us in the Experience Centre until 8 pm.
  • You are responsible for supervising your child (4yr +) prior to meeting the instructor on the snow 10 minutes prior to the scheduled lesson start time.
  • Please be aware that all lessons start promptly at the scheduled start time regardless of weather conditions or reduced lift operations. There are no refunds for missed lessons.
  • You are responsible for meeting your child in the assigned meeting place outside Mountain Kids. Mount Washington is responsible for supervising your child during scheduled lesson times only. Tots will not be released on their own and you may be charged for additional care.
Knowing your reservation number will speed up the check-in process. If possible, please also have this handy upon arrival. Thanks for choosing to visit us at the Mount Washington Snow School! We look forward to welcoming you on the snow you soon.

Lesson Cancellation Policy

  • All lessons must be paid in full at the time of booking.
  • Lessons can be cancelled or rescheduled more than 48 hours in advance. Please call the Snow School at 250-338-1386 ext. 384 or email cancellations@mountwashington.ca.
  • There are no refunds or changes allowed within 48 hours of the lesson time unless due to a medical issue or illness.
  • No refunds will be issued due to weather conditions.
  • Guests who are late for their lessons will not be able to join. We will do our best to rebook for later that day.

Snow School

We highly recommend booking your lesson in advance to guarantee your spot. Our instructors book up quickly and can't always accommodate last-minute walk-in requests.
