Overview

Washy Mountain Music Fair is one day full of free music, free camping (and free shuttle) for the free-spirited in the great outdoors at Mount Washington. Featuring tribute bands for The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan, plus more local acts. Washy Mountain Music Fair is FREE to attend, everyone is welcome to enjoy family-friendly entertainment in the mountains centered around community.

One Day Free Event Saturday, July 12 Featuring:

The GD/BC is an electrifying young tribute band based in Vancouver, known for their distinctive and energetic flair in capturing the essence of the Grateful Dead’s music. Hailing from the vibrant music scene of Vancouver, this talented group brings a dynamic and captivating performance that pays homage to the iconic sound of the Grateful Dead. With their energetic stage presence and infectious enthusiasm, the GD/BC delivers an exhilarating live experience that is highly reminiscent of the true original. The band is composed of Brad Tidswell and Gord Kushner on Guitars and vocals, Tyler Gibson on Keyboards and vocals, Eric Stephenson on Bass, Jeffrey Kornblum on Percussion, Ed Johnson and Liam MacDonald on the drum kits, with Dianna Knight on Vocals. We’re all about jam, blues, rock, and roots. Gary - Bass player, Noel - Vocals & Drum, Gord- Vocals & Guitar, Brad - Vocals & Guitar, Mathias - Vocals & Keys. With a slew of original tracks and an undying love for live shows, our fans are everything! Free Summer Camping at Mt. Washington
Overnight camping during the summer at Mount Washington Alpine Resort is permitted only in designated parking lot areas, offering a convenient free option suitable for self-contained RV units. There are no services such as power or water hookups available, campers can stay overnight, however it is encouraged to come prepared. Self-contained RV's are recommended, but we don't turn away other styles of camping such as vans or tents; be aware to come prepared for the elements and no camping amenities. Overnight parking is never permitted in Lots 1, 2 or 3. 


Camping is FREE and self-managed during Washy Fair!
  • Overnight parking and camping begins at 5 pm on Friday, July 11th and is only permitted in Parking Lot 4.
  • The entrance will be marked with event signage. Please only camp in Lot 4 as designated; Hawk Chair Lot is overflow camping if necessary.
  • This is a first to arrive, first to camp basis. Please park in neat rows, and only take up as much space as you need to make room for other campers.
  • Please be respectful of your fellow campers, have fun but limit late night noise and hoopla after 11pm. This is a family-friendly event.
  • Be mindful of the mountain environment/wildlife - pack out what you pack in, please clean up after yourself! LEAVE NO TRACE.
  • There are no facilities or other camp services available. A few port-o-potties will be setup in Lot 4, but that's it. The Alpine Lodge will be closed at 9:30 pm.
  • Only propane firepits and stoves are permitted, absolutely NO open flames - any active provincial fire ban restrictions will apply.
  • Campers are asked to vacate Lot 4 by 7 pm on Sunday, July 13th.

  • Q: Are dogs welcome at Washy Fair?
  • A: Yes! Dogs are always welcome on leash here at Mount Washington, but be aware that crowds are expected. The only areas dogs aren't welcome is inside the Alpine Lodge, and the food service area of the patio. The grass section where the stage is located is our dog-friendly patio.
  • Q: Can I camp in a tent or van?
  • A: Yes, but self-containted RVs are recommended as there are no services available. There will be 2 port-a-potties in Parking Lot 4, but no power, water or other facilities are accessible. Come prepared for the elements!
  • Q: Where can I get the free shuttle?
  • A: The free shuttle bus will pick up and drop off from Parking Lot 1 in the round-about at Mount Washington. The shuttle service can transport you here and back again to several locations in the Comox Valley after your day of fun! See the schedule and stop locations on the Shuttle & Camping tab of this webpage. 
  • Q: What food and drink options are available? Can I bring my own alcohol?
  • A: Outside alcohol is not permitted. We will have a Fair Food pop up including Cotton Candy, Corn Dogs and Fair Style Hot Dogs, as well as our full restaurant Eagle View Bistro and the BBQ Patio open. View the menu and specials here on our website.

PLEASE NOTE ROAD DELAYS ARE EXPECTED JUNE 19 - AUGUST 5, 2025:

The Strathcona Parkway is undergoing construction from June 19 through August 5, 2025 to improve paving in key sections. There are sections of reduced speeds and single-lane travel, causing delays. Cyclists should be aware that travel is impacted in many sections as it is gravel only. Please plan a bit of extra time to arrive at the mountain for your scheduled ZipTours, Lessons & Programs. Thank you for understanding!

The Bears Den Summer Daycare

The Bear's Den Daycare offers supervised indoor playtime for Toddlers aged 18 months to 5 years old. Our daycare staff create a fun and safe environment for your toddlers with games, toys, and crafts in our licensed facility.

The Bear's Den Daycare will be open weekends only during the summer season starting June 28th to Sept 28th, 2025. Please call or email for availability.

Overnight camping during the summer at Mount Washington Alpine Resort is permitted only in designated parking areas, offering a convenient free option for self-contained RV units. While there are no services such as power or water hookups available, campers visiting The Bike Park can stay overnight in the Hawk Parking Lot throughout the summer season. For special events like the Washy Mountain Music Fair or the VI Bike Fest Canada Cup, overnight camping is relocated to Lot 4. Overnight parking is never permitted in Lots 1, 2 or 3. Visitors are encouraged to come prepared, as only fully self-contained vehicles are suitable for these camping areas.
