With the annual Fall Freakout Bike Festival approaching this weekend, most of the bike crowd were expecting a fun-filled closing weekend to 2012 summer Bike Park season at Mount Washington. Great news- the mountain is opening the Park for three extended weekends: September 8-9, 15-16, and 22-23 so spread the word!

“After starting our bike season later than we'd originally hoped due to high snowfall levels back in late July, we're pleased to announce three extra riding weekends in September,” says Bike Park Manager Mike Manara. “The great weather over the last month has enabled us to open up the entire trail network, including Monster Mile and Timewarp.”

The Park has seen unprecedented trail improvements over the last month. Warm, dry weather has given the mountain's trail crew ample time to rebuild damaged sections of trail from last winter's snow, plus regain trails that the mountain hadn't planned on opening this season.

“Getting our entire park open with the addition of Monster Mile from the Eagle Chair, proves our dedication to mountain biking and our Bike Park product,” adds Manara.

The Fall Freakout Bike Festival gets September started on the right foot with a huge lineup of events and activities. The weekend features a Jump Jam hosted by Jordie Lunn on Saturday, September 1 and the Island Year Ender Bender DH Race on Sunday, September 2.

The Festival also includes live music by Blackberry Wood, games for the kids, a free BBQ for summer season passholders and an Islander Lager patio party. And for those who agree that it's never too late in the season to learn, Mount Washington is offering a Learn to Ride special all weekend long! Get a 2 hour lesson with bike park ticket and rental for only $49.

In addition to the bike festivities throughout September, Mile High Chairlift Rides will also be operating on the bonus weekends. The trip up to the top of Mount Washington is truly unforgettable and offers views that are simply second to none.

If you need some encouragement to head up in September, the mountain is also offering 50% off Bike Park tickets and Mile High Chairlift rides every day of the bonus weekends: September 8-9, 15-16, and 22-23.

To take advantage of the deals, head to and print off the 50% off voucher which is linked from the main page at Bike Park tickets are only $19.50 and Mile High Rides are very affordable at only $8 after the discount.
