The Refundable Pass Option provides the assurance of a partial refund due to:

  • Medical Reasons – An injury or illness which prevents use of the underlying pass for the duration of the season in which it is valid. The refund is not applicable to an interim injury or illness.
    • or
  • Employment Transfer – A transfer by the pass holder’s current employer requiring a change of residence outside a reasonably accessible radius of Mount Washington Alpine Resort. The refund is not available when voluntarily leaving the area for work or travel.
    • or
  • A related pass holder is applying for a refund – If one member of a family discount group is eligible for a refund, the other members of that family discount group are also eligible, provided each applicant also purchased the refundable pass option.

Terms and Conditions

In this agreement the term “skiing” also includes snowboarding. Subject to the refund schedule, Mount Washington Resort will refund the Passholders who have purchased the Refundable Pass Option based on the following terms and conditions:

  • When injuries or sickness of a Refundable Pass Passholder prevents his/her participation in skiing. The refund is not applicable to interim sickness or injury.
  • When a Refundable Pass Passholder is transferred by his/her current employer or precluded by terms of contract requiring him/her to change residence outside a reasonably accessible radius of Mount Washington Alpine Resort, provided the date of transfer is at least 30 days after the purchase of the Refundable Pass and Mount Washington is advised within 15 days of notification by the Refundable Passholder's employer.
  • The Refund Option does not apply to snow conditions or any other variables.
  • The Refund Option does not apply when voluntarily leaving the area for work or travel.
  • The Refund Option must be purchased concurrently with the 2013/2014 Season Pass.
  • Mount Washington Resort must be notified in writing, and ski pass surrendered within 15 days of non-participation.
  • The Refundable Pass Premium is not refundable under any circumstances.
  • If a parent, spouse (legal or common-law) or child (under age 19) of a Refundable Pass Passholder who qualifies for a refund and is also a Refundable Pass Passholder chooses to cease participation, he/she is entitled to a scheduled refund. The refund is limited to one additional Passholder.
  • Where the person applying for the refund is part of a family, the cost for the remaining family will be recalculated to reflect the revised family grouping, with the refund being applied to the difference between the original sale and the revised sale.

Exceptions: This refund option does not cover loss:

  • If your 2013/2014 Season Pass is used for any reason after the date of illness, injury or transfer.
  • Caused by or contributed to by intentional self-injury.
  • Due to emotional disorders or preexisting conditions unless the Refundable Pass Passholder is hospitalized.
  • Due to any injury or sickness that does not prevent participation in skiing.
  • When presenting your claim please provide the following:
  • Covering letter of explanation with your 2013/2014 Season Pass
  • Medical certificate providing: a) date of first medical treatment and b) prognosis, including a statement that the Passholder is unable to ski and how long the illness or injury will prevent participation.
  • In the event of job transfer, provide a letter from your employer within 15 days of notification, specifying date, length and location of transfer.

Under no circumstances will a refund or credit be given if the refundable pass option is not purchased.

Refund Schedule:

The following is a schedule of the portion of the original cost of the pass which is eligible for refund.

Until the Season Opening

95% of cost of the Season Pass refunded

Opening up to and including Dec. 23

80% of cost of the Season Pass refunded

Dec. 24 up to and including Jan. 21

60% of cost of the Season Pass refunded

Jan 22 up to and including Feb 21

40% of cost of the Season Pass refunded

Feb.22 up to and including March 20

20% of cost of the Season Pass refunded

After March 20

No refund

Where the person applying for the refund is part of a family group, the cost of the remaining family members will be recalculated as if the refunded pass holder was not part of the original configuration. The refund calculation will be applied to the difference between the original price paid and the price calculated without the refund applicant.

When presenting your claim please provide the following:
A covering letter of explanation
Your Season Pass
A medical certificate providing: (a) date of first medical treatment and (b) prognosis, including a statement that the Passholder is unable to ski and how long the illness or injury will prevent participation.
In the event of job transfer, please provide a letter from your employer specifying date, length and location of transfer.
