Vancouver Island Olympians

Spencer O’Brien
O’Brien is one of seven people on Canada’s snowboard slopestyle team, and was born in Alert Bay with Courtenay listed as her hometown.
Cassie Sharpe
The Sharpe family seems to have a knack for producing winter sport athletes. Cassie Sharpe has been on a rocket ship to superstardom since joining the Canadian National Halfpipe Team in 2014.
Teal Harle
In 2002, Teal Harle started skiing at the age of six. In 2007, Harle heard about freestyle skiing and became hooked. By 2009 he was competing in local events. Although he came in dead last in his very first competition, he was more determined than ever to improve. Harle skied on the Mount Washington Ski Club until he was 16 years old.
Carle Brenneman
Carle Brenneman has been a member of the national snowboard cross team since 2011 and was an alternate for the team at Sochi 2014. She did achieve a career highlight in 2014 when she finished fifth at the Winter X Games in Aspen after advancing to the Big Final.

2010 Olympic Legacy at Mt. Washington

Mt. Washington Alpine Resort, located in the Comox Valley of Vancouver Island, is hosted Olympic teams from an estimated 26 countries, all in training for the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and Paralympic Games. Teams from China, the U.S.A., Sweden, Germany, France, and our own Canada were just a few of those training on the Vancouver Island slopes.

After the Olympic Games came to Vancouver in 2010, celebrated, Games legacies were left in communities around British Columbia. At Mount Washington, that legacy is the stately Vancouver Island Mountain Centre. The VIMC is the ultimate venue for athletes and outdoor education groups looking to capitalize on Mount Washington's alpine slopes, Nordic trails, and proximity to Strathcona Provincial Park.

Celebrate the winter games with us at Mount Washington Alpine Resort.
