3-Day Alpine Adventure Camp

Program Overview

Mt. Washington’s Alpine Adventure Camps are 3-day camps for kids aged 7 to 12 years old. Activities include trips to Lake Helen Mackenzie, scenic chairlift rides, mountain biking, games, scavenger hunts, disc golf and so much more! Our experienced leaders and guest educators will ensure all camp “adventurers” have the time of their lives while in a safe and controlled environment.

Dates: July 21 to 23 & August 18 to 20
Times: 10 am to 3 pm

Camp Breakdown:

Day 1 – Exploration:

What better way to start camp than a hike to Lake Helen Mackenzie? After check-in, you will spend some time getting to know your leaders and fellow adventurers before taking a quick van ride to the Strathcona Park trailhead. The group will let embark on a hike out to the lake where they will have lunch and a swim. Upon returning to the Alpine Lodge, the group will have some fun getting in a round of disc golf!

Day 2 – All Things Alpine:

We kick things off with a bang on day two, starting with a Basic Bike Maintenance Clinic which is led by one of our resident bike experts. Adventurers will learn about checking their safety gear before a ride, different bike components, tools used and basic trail-side fixes. After a quick lunch, the group will head out on a cross-country ride on our Finger Trail, following by a scenic chairlift ride and games back at the Alpine Lodge.

Day 3 – Bike Park:

Hip hip hooray, it’s Bike Park day! Adventurers will begin the day learning from one of our Trail Crew Pros on how to properly build and maintain mountain bike trails. Proper drainage, various tools used, raking, and shovelling techniques will all be covered. After learning how to build the trails, the group will try them out starting with an intro session in our Skills Park. Once everyone is comfortable with basic biking knowledge, they will head out to the Bike Park for the rest of the day, building on skills such as body position, braking, climbing, and cornering.
