Best Mount Washington Memory?

“ There are too many 20+cm days to count over a 20 year period! Building teams, executing projects and having a positive impact on people through sports is what I enjoy most ”

About Mike:

I'm Mike - I ski and ride my bike! I am stoked to be on the mountain and sharing it with my family and friends. My favourite part of the job is being outdoors and the people I get to work with.

How were you first introduced to skiing/snowboarding? My Dad and uncle took my brother and I to the local hill when I was 6, the rest is history.

Favourite Part of Your Job?

“ The people, staff and guests and the location, nothing better than leaving the valley in the rain and breaking through the clouds into the sunshine on the mountain.  I love to provide great customer service and make people happy ”

About Tim:

Avid Fisherman, mountain biker, skier and all things outdoors. Married for 19 years with three wonderful daughters. Love to cook! Lived and worked at many resorts from fishing resorts, ski hills, golf resorts including overseas in a Caribbean resort but none better than right here!

How were you first introduced to skiing/snowboarding? School trip in 1984 (yes I am from the Class of '84, very George Orwellian).

Best Mount Washington Memory?

“ The best memories I have is of watching my boys on the hill having a blast and picking them up from Snow school with big smiles on their faces after having an amazing day.  The snow pros are amazing, my kids really looked up to and admired their instructors ”
How were you first introduced to skiing/snowboarding? I was introduced to skiing by friends of our family back in 1978 on Forbidden Plateau. The next year we were skiing on Mt. Washington!

About Tina:

Prior to joining Mt. Washington in 2004 I studied to become a CMA and worked in public practice in Vancouver at one of the big 6 firms.  I really enjoyed that work and I can even say it was fun, but not half as much fun as it is to work and play at Mt. Washington!  I have loved returning to my home, the Comox Valley, slowing down a bit, turning my commute from bumper-to-bumper traffic into a lovely drive up a scenic mountain road. After spending many years raising 2 boys, I now have more time and have found my passion lies fitness and wellness. I spend my spare time instructing boot camps and yoga classes of all types.  I am a certified group fitness instructor and RYT500 in Therapeutic Yoga.

Director of Maintenance & Facilities

Favourite Part of Your Job?

“ Those special moments that separate this from any other job in the world. Sneaking away for some turns on a bluebird windless morning with friends, seeing how pumped people are when we get the lifts opened on those snowmageddon mornings, seeing my 4-year-old starting the whole cycle all over again ”

About Dan:

I represent the classic ski bum success story - I fell in love with skiing and moved to the mountains to work, to ski for free and to "turn off" from the real hustle and bustle for a year. Once here, I immediately gave up skiing once I discovered snowboarding (because it's way better!) Instead of staying for 1 year, I've stayed for 29.

How were you first introduced to skiing/snowboarding? The ski bus from Victoria.

/ LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT.

Mount Washington Alpine Resort recognizes the deep history and cultural significance of the lands where we recreate. We are grateful to work and play within the unceded traditional territory of the K’ómoks First Nation in the mountains of the Pentlatch, E'iksan, Sahtloot and Sasitla peoples.

A peace dance in the mountains was shared in the summer of 2020 by the Kumugwe Cultural Society. Through sharing the songs and dances of the K’omoks and Kwakwaka’wakw peoples, the Kumugwe Dancers are able to help facilitate respect and understanding within the local community and communities abroad.
