Friday, Feb 10 Georgia Murray, Kytami, Ashleigh Eymann & D Whiz

Out of thousands of auditions from across the nation, Georgia Murray was recently chosen as one of Canada's top 8 bands competing for $100,000 and a recording contract with Universal Music on CBC's Cover Me Canada.

Georgia may have grown up at her parents' remote fishing lodge in northern BC, but her sights were set higher than sea level. After spontaneously belting out a Little Mermaid tune to their diners at age 3, Georgia became the lodge's feature performer. Blast ahead. Georgia got a major break from one lodge patron, TV writer/producer David E. Kelley who wrote a part for her as a lounge singer into his show, Boston Legal.

The randomventure continues, opening for artists like KRS One, Warren G, KOS, Shad, Atmosphere and Jurassic 5, privately performing for Warren Buffett, earning credit for a single by Korea's biggest star, which copied Georgia's original song note-for-note and topped Korea's charts. You might've even seen her singing anthems at arenas like Madison Square Gardens for NHL and NBA teams.

Georgia's flown through all of Victoria and Vancouver's best venues, with a sound labeled "alternative" and "dark soul," mixing Gnarls Barkley, Portishead and Adele. Live performance is where Georgia blows minds. Her voice and presence commands the focus of every eye in the room. She's blipped on many radars, like The Province's "Monthly Musical Pick" twice in six months, and Entertainment Tonight called her "Canada's own singing sensation."

And another exciting trek begins, Georgia's currently recording material with her chief creative partner, D Whiz and Grammy winning producer Chin Injet (Eminem, 50 Cent), and has recently worked with Juno winning producer Gavin Brown (Metric, Billy Talent) and Ryan Kondrat (Broken Social Scene, Shad).

kytamiKytami is a violinistextremist. Perhaps Canada’s most diverse and engaging fiddle player. Kytami bounds between classical and fiddle styles and matches them to heavy bass and electronic dance beats creating an incredibly high energy show that packs dance floors and melts minds. With her abilities, style and devilish smile, she has won over audience after audience, appearing at most major festivals across Canada and in the Western U.S. as well as performing overseas in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany and Dubai.

Kytami has appeared on albums by The Swollen Members and has also co-written two albums and toured extensively with the multi-cultural, award-winning band Delhi 2 Dublin. Kytami also appeared on CBC's Cover me Canada with Georgia Murray after being chosen as one of Canada's top 8 bands.

Ashleigh Eymann is a soul singin', rap slingin' independent and collaborative artist and one of the fortunate PEAK Performance Project Top 20 Finalists for 2011.
Growing up in Vancouver, B.C., the mad love affair began with exposure to doo-wop and motown in her childhood, and starting at age 5 she found inspiration through her years studying piano with the Royal Conservatory. This journey continued into adulthood and Ashleigh intuitively has surrounded herself with musicians and music creators for the past 10 years.

After forming the duo Divinity with fellow Brentwood College graduate, Georgia Murray, they began performing with Victoria, BC’s ‘Stir Fry Collective’ in 2002, which served as the perfect vehicle to reach the ears of many local musicians. Ashleigh’s style and expertise garnered the attention of many established artists and she has had the good fortune and the opportunity to work with many of those artists and groups in Victoria and Vancouver. She has graced many tracks for others that began with her signature soulful hooks and has begun her own career that crosses genres and styles.

As a member of the hip-hop collective group, The Current (DJ Murge, Ishkan, JustB) in Victoria, Ashleigh performed in Vancouver and across Vancouver Island and opened for many artists including Jurassic 5, Brother Ali, One Self (DJ Vadim, Yarah Bravo, Blu Rum), and The Beatnuts...
At 27, Ashleigh has added to her impressive resume and delved into the role of emcee with hip hop collective INDIGO KIDS including Axiom and Kapok. She continues to write soulful ballads, mashup eras and keep things funky. Never one to be pinned down, the future is wide open for this exciting and innovative artist.
