Mountain Biking Mountain Biking

Mount Washington Alpine Resort is located on the northern tip of the Beaufort Mountain Range on scenic Vancouver Island. Views of the Pacific Ocean, Strathcona Provincial Park, and the mainland’s Coast Mountains provide you with picture-perfect backdrops for your day of riding. If you’re looking for lift-accessed trails located in the hotbed of modern-day freeride mountain biking, please place a check-mark beside Mount Washington for your next biking adventure.

Mount Washington offers 2 high-speed lifts, one four-person and one six-person, that are fully equipped to carry your trusty ride safely and efficiently to the top of the mountain. The lifts provide quick and easy access to Mount Washington’s 37 kilometres of trails. Whether you’re into dirt jumps, wooden stunts, berms, old-school single track, or fast DH rippers, all tastes from novice to expert are catered for. Mount Washington’s experienced trail builders have created a kick-ass mountain bike playground in the heart of Vancouver Island.

Mountain Bike Responsibility Code

  • Mountain biking involves elements of risk that common sense and personal awareness can help reduce. Please adhere to the responsibility code, and share a safe experience with others.
  • Ride in control and within your ability level. You must be able to avoid other people or objects.
  • Stay off the lifts and out of the Bike Park if your ability is impaired by drugs, alcohol, or fatigue.
  • Wear a helmet it is mandatory. Other protective equipment is strongly recommended.
  • Inspect your bike or have it checked by a qualified bike mechanic before you ride.
  • Be sure to have the physical dexterity, ability, and knowledge to safely load, ride, and unload lifts. Ask the lift attendant for assistance if you need it.
  • Be aware of changing conditions on trails and features. Inspect features before use and throughout the day.
  • Stay on marked trails. Ride only in the direction indicated by the trail markers. Obey all signs and warnings. Do not cut switchbacks. Keep off closed areas.
  • Avoid riders ahead of you. They have the right of way.
  • Look uphill and yield to other riders when entering a trail or starting downhill.
  • Do not stop where you obstruct a trail, or are not visible from above.
  • If you are involved in or witness a collision or accident, you must identify yourself to the Bike Patrol or a staff member.
  • Do not feed, provoke, or approach wildlife.

Mount Washington Alpine Resort will allow Mountain Unicycles on our downhill mountain bike trails provided a waiver has been signed by each rider.
